Online Jobs with NO Experience Required for Students to Earn Money

1. Start a Blog (Highest Earning Potential)

Starting a blog isn’t your average work from home student job, and it won’t provide you with instant financial gratification, but it is something that can really pay off in the long run, with time and effort.

Established blogs have the potential to earn six figures every month. Blogs are hard work but the payoff is serious.

Students looking for a part time online job should seriously consider creating a blog and monetizing it with advertisements or affiliate links. I mentioned earlier that it can take time for your blog to begin generating traffic, but how much can you make blogging in the short term you might be asking?

It took me roughly 20 days to start making money after I launched thecouchcommute. I earned almost $200 from affiliate sales in my first month, and my traffic was sitting around 8 – 10 visitors per day which goes to show that you don’t need to be generating thousands of visitors to your blog each month in order to make a profit.

If you’re unsure about how to get your blog off the ground check out our beginner’s guide on how you can start a blog and get it online fast. Or head straight to Bluehost and create an account to launch your money making blog in under an hour using their industry leading web hosting services and one-click WordPress installation feature.

2. Work From Home Selling Courses Online (2nd Highest Earning Potential)

Read Our Ultimate Guide on How You Can Build a Six-Figure Home Business Selling Online Courses.

If you like the idea of online tutoring but dislike the fact that you’ll have to teach in real time, you could create and sell courses online. The subject matter of an online course can be whatever you’d like, and there have been some wildly successful online courses based around simple subjects such as gardening and cooking.

Students can make great online courses because they are immersed in a classroom setting every day. This makes them much more adept at building effective online courses that sell. I love this online job for students, and it’s one with a ton of earning potential, we’re talking hundreds of thousands of dollars in profit if your online course really takes off.

3. Deliver Groceries for Instacart

Estimated Earnings: $15 – $30 an hour

Uber has long been considered the go-to gig app side hustle, but Instacart is beginning to give them a run for their money.

Getting paid to deliver groceries is something that can be done whenever the urge to work and make some money strikes.

Once you’re approved to be a delivery driver, you simply log in to the app when you’re ready to start receiving orders. You can work for as long as you want and whenever you want.

In my opinion, Instacart is a better side hustle than Uber for one reason, the tips are much larger. I recently used Instacart to have groceries delivered and my tip to the driver was over $30. Assuming most people tip the standard amount, you can easily make $15 – $30 an hour delivering groceries.

Apply to Instacart and get paid to shop for and deliver groceries.

4. Participate in Online Research Studies (Best for Those Who Live in Large Cities)

Edit: At the time of writing this article I was convinced that Respondent was a fantastic opportunity for those looking to make quick cash from home. A few months later, I’m not so sure. Many of my readers who have signed up for this service have reported back to me that getting selected for studies is very difficult. Living in a large metropolitan area will bolster your chances of gaining access to high paying studies but I don’t think this service provides as much value as I thought it would. I would say their claims of making $140 an hour is not a lie but it is rare since many don’t seem to be selected to participate. Temper expectations with Respondent and if you get selected to participate in a study please let me know.

Rent yourself out as a guinea pig in the name of science! I’m just kidding, it’s totally safe and you can earn a decent amount of money from home every month with Respondent by getting paid to participate in consumer research studies, both online or in person. If online typing jobs don’t appeal to you, this is a fantastic online job for beginners. Any online job without investment that can be done from home at your own pace has a lot of upside, and Respondent can give you a cash infusion when you need it.

According to Respondent the average pay is $140 an hour. Most studies will last a minimum of 30 minutes, and you’ll have to be the right candidate to get chosen.

If you don’t live in a large city I’d recommend creating an account with MyPoints instead. The high paying survey opportunities won’t be as consistent but you’ll still have the opportunity to make $50 per survey if you’re lucky.

5. Online Typing Jobs For Students

You can make a killing if you learn to work from home as a freelance online proofreader. Online proofreading jobs can pay up to $50 an hour, and you don’t need any previous work experience, just a little bit of training. Anyone who publishes content online may have a need for a proofreader, and Caitlin Pyle runs a great course that teaches you how to turn typing work from home into a profitable side hustle and even how to land high paying clients.

6. Online Tutoring Jobs for Students (Potential to make $20/hr+)

If you’re still in school but have already completed a bachelor’s degree you could apply to VipKid and work online as an ESL tutor. This is a home based job without investment that provides a flexible schedule and competitive wages. Expect to earn $20 or more per hour tutoring online with VipKid.

For those without a bachelor’s degree, you can get paid with online tutoring using Palfish. Palfish is an app you can download from the iOS/Play Store that allows you to teach directly from your smartphone, and work when you want.

This is the type of online job that doesn’t require experience and new graduates may want to lean on ESL tutoring if money is tight.

7. Paid Online Survey and Task Websites

Yeah yeah…Surveys are boring, but this is a tried and true way to make some extra money online every month. Sign up for a task website and earn points to complete paid surveys, watch videos, answer polls, and shop online. Exchange those points for gift cards or straight cash to your PayPal account. Be wary of sketchy websites that won’t pay you, and make sure you sign up for one of the reputable ones like PrizeRebel or Swagbucks.

8. Rent Your Stuff!

You can rent out your belongings to people online using FatLlama. It’s a pretty new and unique concept, but it’s one that has some potential. Rent out cameras, music equipment, electronics, tools, craft supplies, and anything else you can think of. If it has a use, there is someone out there who might want to rent it from you.

The prices vary, so check out their website to find out what the going rate for rented stuff is in your area.

9. Test Apps and Websites

Usertesting is a website that will pay you to make short videos, reviewing websites or mobile applications. The current rate of pay is $10 per 10 – 20 minute video review. This would be a much better option if there was a constant flow of apps to review, so for now, expect to only review a few apps per week, max. Hopefully, they offer more work for their members down the line.

10. Write eBooks

If you fancy yourself an amateur Stephen King, why not try your look at writing eBooks. Use Amazon as a platform to sell on, and consider writing about “evergreen” content niches.

Evergreen refers to content that is always in demand (health, finance, weight loss) and will have a much higher chance of earning you some money. It’s an online job that requires a bit of effort up front, but once you upload your eBook all that’s left to do is sit back and collect your passive income profits.

11. More Work from Home Typing Jobs for Students

Are you more of a typist than an editor? If online proofreading doesn’t float your boat, maybe transcription will?

Get paid to type online transcribing audio files with this home based job and make a decent salary doing so. The pay for at home transcriptionists can vary, and most companies will pay you per line or audio minute typed. So, if you happen to be a lighting fast typist, this could be a great online job for you.

Transcribe Anywhere offers a free course that teaches you the basics, if you’re interested.

Rev is a website you can apply to and begin working as a freelance transcriber from home immediately. You are required to pass a test, but it shouldn’t be too difficult for native English speakers.

Honorable Mentions

Online Data Entry Jobs

Get paid to complete small tasks with Amazon Mechanical Turks. Freelance data entry jobs can provide a constant flow of online income for students, but don’t expect to get rich. I’d say you could expect to make a couple hundred each month, working an hour or two per day with Amazon Mturk.

Search Engine Evaluator

Clickworker and Appen are some alternate options for student data entry from home jobs. There is a screening process, and you will need to upload a resume. However, if you can get hired with Appen and assigned to a project, you can easily make $1000 each month working at home. The problem with Appen is their tendency to remove individuals from projects without warning or notice. Your main job will be evaluating search results, and validating the accuracy of information online. It is monotonous work, but it can provide some financial stability.

Rent out your parking spot

Do you pay for a parking spot at your college? If you do, and money is tight, you could rent it out to a friend and take the bus instead.

Deliver Food on Your Bike.

If you have a bike, you can deliver food with Uber Eats. This is a great way to make some extra cash on the side, and get some exercise in the process. Not everyone can get access to a car, so delivering food on a bike makes more sense for college students.

Well, there you have it. These are some fantastic online jobs for college students at home, and ones you can start doing right away. I focused mainly on jobs that can be done quickly or in short bursts. Freelance jobs with maximum flexibility was a defining criteria for this list, and including remote jobs that are best suited for full time employees doesn’t make sense for college students.
